SURFACE PREPARATION

 

For newly laid concrete we recommend waiting at least one month for painting to give the concrete time to cure and concrete dust to dissipate. If marking needs to be done sooner, we cannot guarantee the paint. We can however, encase the paint in a sealer to help provide adhesiveness. 

 

For the best longevitiy of the painting job the surface needs to be clean and free of dirt and ditritus. We can provide a high pressure waterblasting service, which also helps remove flaky old paint. 

 

Best results happen with bone dry surfaces, concrete can take a couple of days to completely dry after a downpour. Once the paint is laid, if it rains straight away that is not a problem. 

 

PAINT

 

We use chlorinated rubber roadmarking paint that exceeds Transit NZ M7 specifications. We are always looking for the best available paint from manufacturers. This is applied with our hydraulic airless spray linemarking machines. We use a range of different techniques to ensure the straightest lines possible. 

 

Our paint is quick drying and can be driven over/walked on between 20 mins to 1 hour, depending on the air temperature. 

 

The longevity of the paint comes down to surface preparation (see above) and traffic volumes. For high traffic volumes and heavy traffic the lasting time is a lot less, for these instances we may recommend an epoxy paint which is more expensive but longer lasting so overall it works out cheaper for the client.

We cannot give a definite life of the paint due to these different reasons but we can give you an estimate at the time of work.

 

We can provide a range of colours, not just roadmarking yellow and white. Please enquire at the time of quoting. 

 

If you are needing reflectorised lines, this is not a problem. We can add glass beads at the time of application, please enquire when quoting.
